Reading Goals…2024

East of Eden, John Steinbeck

This is the first quarter “Big Read” for my Hardcore Literature Bookclub and I can’t wait to read it deeply with that group.

Middlemarch by George Eliot

This, I am told, is an undertaking - not unlike War and Peace is an undertaking…but I’ve read that it is well worth the endeavor.

Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman

I’ve read lots of Walt Whitman but my Hardcore Lit Bookclub is going to do a deep dive so I’m really looking forward to the discussions about his poems. It’s been ages since I’ve talked about poetry with anyone and it will be nice to see what other people think and get out of these beautiful poems.

Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Grams

Late to the party on this one…again, not my genre but I’ve heard good things.

The Essential Rumi

As a lover and collector of poetry - I am ashamed to admit I’ve never read any Rumi. Plan on doing a deep dive in the coming year.

Wuthering Heights; Emily Bronte

I have always wanted to read this book so now is the time!

The Turn of The Screw, Henry James

I feel like I’ve read this before but when I read the synopsis, I’m thinking that maybe I have not. This book is right up my street…a classic ghost story, written well!

Demon Copperhead, Barbara Kingsolver

I hope I like this book. I want to like it. I tend not to enjoy these books that have won awards and that 200,000 people love. For example, I did not love The Nightingale. But I am super hopeful about this one…

Hail Mary by Andy Weir

Absolutely loved the Martian. Can’t wait to read this one!
